Delhi: BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Monday took a swipe at the opposition over what he termed as contradictions in their leadership endorsements, particularly between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.
Addressing a press conference, Poonawalla said there was a visible lack of mutual confidence among opposition leaders. “I’ve heard that two songs are being played outside Tejashwi Yadav’s house, that’s the buzz. What I’m referring to is how Tejashwi Yadav, with full enthusiasm, publicly declared Rahul Gandhi as the opposition’s face for Prime Minister. But when Rahul Gandhi was asked whether he endorses Tejashwi Yadav as Chief Minister, he avoided the questions, showing a lack of trust in Tejashwi’s leadership potential to be a Chief Minister,” he remarked.
Poonawalla argued that this hesitation highlighted divisions within the opposition bloc, adding that their inability to present a united front raised doubts about their leadership credibility. He further alleged that while opposition leaders readily project each other for top posts, they often stop short of reciprocating support, which he described as a sign of weak internal cohesion.
