Delhi: Reacting to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav being declared the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Mahagathbandhan from Raghopur, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Thursday dismissed the announcement, questioning the credibility and governance model of the opposition alliance.
“Loaning the public’s land and providing employment, this model is not called a partnership model but a ransom model,” Poonawalla said, criticising the Mahagathbandhan’s approach to governance. He added that claims of running a government by taking the public along were unrealistic. “The talk of running the government by taking the public along is far off; first, take your brother and sister along, take Pappu Yadav along, or take your allied parties along,” he remarked.
Poonawalla reiterated the BJP’s confidence in the leadership of Nitish Kumar and questioned Tejashwi Yadav’s own belief in his prospects. “We have already said that the election is being fought under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. Seeing Tejashwi Yadav’s concerns today, it seems he, too, recognises that only the NDA government will be formed. Tejashwi Yadav also does not believe that he is going to become the Chief Minister, and he is assured that only the NDA’s Chief Minister will be formed,” he added.
