Delhi: BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala on Saturday levelled sharp criticism at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, alleging that law and order in the state has deteriorated significantly since AAP came to power. Citing a series of high-profile crimes, Poonawala accused the state administration of misusing police resources for political protection and vendetta.

“Since the Aam Aadmi Party has come to power in Punjab, the law and order situation has completely collapsed,” he said. Listing incidents such as the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala, an attack on a prominent Kabaddi player, a daylight assault on Shiv Sena leaders, and the killing of Navin Arora—the son of an RSS swayamsevak—Poonawala argued that these reflected a pattern of growing insecurity.

He alleged that the Punjab Police had been diverted from public safety duties to providing extensive VVIP security for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other senior AAP leaders. “It is because AAP has used all the Punjab Police resources for the VVIP protection of Kejriwal and other AAP leaders from Delhi. They are using it for vendetta politics against their political rivals,” he claimed.

According to Poonawala, this diversion of state resources has left ordinary citizens vulnerable, contributing to a sharp decline in law and order. “Law and order have been completely destroyed since the AAP came to power,” he added.
