New Delhi, 16 August — Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shahnawaz Hussain has welcomed the introduction of a special module on Partition in the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) curriculum. He said the decision would help the younger generation understand one of the most defining and tragic chapters of India’s history.

“I thank the NCERT for telling the truth. Lakhs of people died during Partition. Congress accepted it, but if their leadership would have fought, the country would not have been divided. They were in a hurry to get power,” Hussain remarked.

He also pointed to Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah, saying that despite knowing about his illness, he supported the division. “It is the right of today’s generation to know about it,” Hussain added.
