New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Tuesday welcomed the formation of the NDA government in Bihar, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s stewardship of the alliance for what he described as a “great election.” Hussain said the mood within the National Democratic Alliance was buoyant following the results, with a series of internal meetings now scheduled to finalise leadership decisions.
“The NDA government has been formed in Bihar. With the blessings of PM Modi, under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, we fought a great election,” Hussain said. He added that a meeting of the BJP legislative party would take place first, followed by a wider NDA meeting in which the alliance’s leader would be formally chosen. “The leader will be elected in that. The NDA government is going to be formed in Bihar,” he said.
Hussain asserted that public sentiment in Bihar was overwhelmingly positive after the election outcome. According to him, voters were relieved that “Jungle Raj Part 2” had not materialised, referring to opposition narratives around law and order under previous regimes. “People are very happy; most of the people are happy because people are relaxed that Jungle Raj Part 2 has not come,” he said.
Taking aim at the opposition, Hussain criticised parties questioning the credibility of electronic voting machines. “Our opponents have no option. They are blaming EVMs, sir, and we are thanking the public,” he remarked.
