Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Thursday criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on Gujarat, saying that dismissing the state’s development model as “vote theft” amounted to insulting the people of Gujarat and the country.

“Rahul Gandhi is denying the progress of Gujarat. Gujarat is a symbol of development, where the per capita income is very good. The infrastructure is very good. In Gujarat, where the mandate was given to the BJP, Rahul Gandhi is calling the Gujarat model a model of vote theft. This is unfortunate. He is insulting the public, insulting Gujarat, insulting the country,” Hussain said.

The BJP leader accused Gandhi of misusing the term “theft” in political discourse, while also pointing to corruption allegations against him. “People who themselves are on bail on many corruption issues are attacking the Prime Minister,” he remarked.

Hussain further said Gandhi’s yatra was being rejected by people in Bihar. “He should know that the people of Bihar have completely rejected his yatra. Both Revanth Reddy and Stalin had abused Bihar. He has called them to provoke the people of Bihar and no matter which leader he calls in this entire yatra, nothing is going to happen,” he added.
