A fresh political controversy has erupted following comments by BJP MP Sambit Patra, who launched a scathing attack on the Congress party in response to remarks made by former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi questioning the 2019 surgical strikes conducted after the Pulwama terror attack.

Speaking in Delhi, Patra said, “From outside, they are the Congress Working Committee (CWC) but from inside, they are PWC — Pakistan Working Committee.” He was referring to the Congress Working Committee meeting held a day earlier, alleging that the party's internal mindset is aligned with forces hostile to India.

Patra criticized Channi for allegedly denying that surgical strikes ever took place after the Pulwama attack, stating, “Right after that, a press conference was held, and former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi said that the surgical strike had never been conducted.”

He further accused Congress of consistently undermining India’s armed forces. “Congress does not leave any opportunity to provide oxygen to the Pakistani terrorists and Pakistani Army,” he said, claiming that such statements demoralize Indian soldiers and embolden adversaries.

The BJP has since escalated demands for action from Congress leadership, urging the party to clarify its stance and take disciplinary action against Channi. The comments have sparked outrage within BJP circles, with leaders calling them part of a “dangerous narrative” that weakens national unity and security.
