Delhi: BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari has criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) ahead of the upcoming Delhi elections.
In his remarks, Bhandari claimed that AAP, which previously opposed the Ram Temple and supported the demolition of temples, is now trying to portray itself as a 'Chunavi Hindu' in light of the elections. He emphasized the need for Delhi to be part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 'Viksit Bharat' campaign, stating that the city requires a "double-engine" government for progress.
“I have prayed that Delhi also gets to join PM Modi's Viksit Bharat campaign, and a double-engine government is formed here. The AAP, which opposed the Ram Temple and promoted the demolition of temples, is now acting as a 'Chunavi Hindu' as the elections are approaching,” Bhandari said, suggesting that the party’s shift in stance is politically motivated.
Bhandari also targeted AIMIM, led by Asaduddin Owaisi, accusing it of being a "communal party." He cited the party’s alleged support for controversial figures such as Yakub Memon and its decision to give a ticket to Delhi riots accused Tahir Hussain. "AIMIM is a communal party that did not consider Yakub Memon as a terrorist. Asaduddin Owaisi wants to give a ticket to Delhi riots accused Tahir Hussain," he said.
He further remarked that while AAP and AIMIM may have different names, their actions are strikingly similar. These comments are likely to add fuel to the political debate as the city approaches its elections.
