DELHI – As the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections approach, BJP leader Parvesh Verma has launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of neglecting key issues affecting the city’s residents. Speaking at a press conference, Verma criticized the AAP administration for its failure to address stubble burning, which contributes to the worsening air quality in Delhi.

“It has become difficult to breathe in Delhi because they (referring to the AAP government) have not taken a single step over stubble burning in the last 11 years,” Verma stated. He went on to highlight the government’s flawed air quality management efforts, pointing out the inefficacy of an air tower worth Rs 25 crore that, according to Verma, did not function even for a single day.

Verma also targeted Kejriwal over his response to the COVID-19 crisis, accusing him of neglecting the welfare of Delhi's residents during the pandemic. “During the COVID-19 crisis, 28,000 people had died in Delhi, but Arvind Kejriwal was busy building his 'sheeshmahal',” Verma remarked, alluding to the Chief Minister’s focus on personal projects while the city struggled with the health crisis.

Verma's comments come as the BJP intensifies its campaign for the upcoming elections, positioning itself as a strong alternative to AAP by emphasizing issues such as air quality, governance, and accountability. The sharp criticism is likely to play a crucial role in the political discourse as the city heads to the polls next year.
