New Delhi: BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) over the alleged gangrape case in Kolkata, demanding the immediate resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Addressing the media on Friday, Vallabh questioned the recurring pattern of individuals accused in heinous crimes being associated with the ruling TMC party.

“What is the relationship between the gang rape accused and the TMC? Why do such accused often turn out to be members of the party?” he asked, pointing out that one of the main accused in this case is reportedly a TMC member. He added that the trend raises serious concerns about the party's internal culture and alleged protection of wrongdoers.

Vallabh condemned what he described as the shameful behaviour of TMC leaders who, instead of demanding justice, were seen defending or trivialising the crime. “MPs are standing with the accused, saying it was just a matter of friendship, or shrugging off responsibility by saying ‘what should we do?’” he said.

He also criticised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for failing to ensure women's safety in the state, despite being a woman herself. “Bengal has now become synonymous with anarchy, corruption, and nepotism. A government that cannot protect its women has no moral right to stay in power,” Vallabh asserted.
