Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh on Saturday welcomed the latest changes in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates, saying they demonstrate the resilience of India’s economy. Speaking in Kharagpur, Ghosh stated that the central government has been able to continue development initiatives without the need for additional tax increases, which he described as a sign of economic strength.
“The central government has sufficient funds. Without raising taxes, development work is continuing, which means the economy is strong,” Ghosh said. He added that the acceptance of GST among citizens has grown, with people recognising its importance in contributing to the country’s progress.
Ghosh further said that the adjustments in GST rates would provide relief to consumers and encourage compliance. “People will benefit from this relief. GST is being accepted, and people have realised that for the country’s progress, taxes must be paid,” he remarked.
