Chennai, Tamil Nadu: BJP National Spokesperson C.R. Kesavan on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Congress leadership, demanding that Rahul Gandhi address what he called “very serious allegations” related to a purported ‘ticket chori’ or cash-for-tickets scandal within the party. His remarks came after former senior Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed accused the party’s Bihar in-charge of being involved in irregularities linked to ticket distribution.
Kesavan said the accusations, coming from a seasoned figure like Ahmed, could not be dismissed lightly. “Very serious allegations of ‘ticket chori’ have now rocked the Congress party, with erstwhile senior Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed blatantly accusing Rahul Gandhi’s proxy and the Bihar in-charge of being involved in the tickets-for-cash scandal,” he said. He added that Gandhi must “break his silence immediately” to dispel doubts surrounding the episode.
The BJP spokesperson argued that the Congress leadership’s perceived inaction only deepened public suspicion. “Otherwise, only the doubts and suspicions around him will be strengthened,” he warned.
Escalating his attack, Kesavan said even Congress workers were aware of the strain Gandhi’s leadership placed on the party. “Congress party, their own party leaders and the public very well know that Rahul Gandhi is their political albatross. Rahul Gandhi is the Congress party's biggest political liability,” he remarked.
