Chennai, Tamil Nadu: BJP National Spokesperson CR Kesavan on Monday sharply criticised Robert Vadra for his recent remarks questioning the credibility of the Bihar election results, calling them “outrageous” and “vicious.” Addressing reporters in Chennai, Kesavan said Vadra’s comments amounted to casting aspersions not only on the electoral process but also on the people of Bihar.
Kesavan said Vadra’s demand for a re-election was an “insult to the honesty and democratic wisdom” of Bihar’s voters, who had exercised their mandate freely. “Mr Robert Vadra’s outrageous remarks casting vicious aspersions on the Bihar election results… have questioned the integrity of the people of Bihar,” he said. “His shocking demand for re-election has insulted the honesty of Bihar’s voters.”
The BJP spokesperson further alleged that Vadra was being used by the Congress as a “proxy” to undermine and intimidate constitutional institutions, particularly after the party’s poor performance in the state. “Is the Congress party now using and deploying Mr Robert Vadra as its proxy to intimidate and threaten constitutional institutions?” he asked.
Escalating his attack, Kesavan accused the Congress of hypocrisy, pointing to what he described as the Nehru-Gandhi family’s dynastic control over the party. “It is the height of hypocrisy that Robert Vadra talks about the integrity of the democratic process when the Nehru-Gandhi first family has undemocratically hijacked political leadership as a birthright,” he said, adding that Indira Gandhi’s government had “murdered the Constitution.”
