New Delhi – The political sparring over legacy and symbolism escalated on Tuesday as BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan launched a blistering attack on the Congress following the party’s special resolution on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during its Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Ahmedabad.
Kesavan accused the Congress of hypocrisy, stating that its sudden homage to Sardar Patel lacked sincerity and was nothing more than “a bogus farcical drama.” He pointed to the naming of the Congress party headquarters as "Indira Bhawan" rather than after Sardar Patel as evidence of the party’s dynastic priorities.

“If the Congress party, which is now suddenly and shamelessly faking respect for Sardar Patel ji, had any regard for him… the Congress party would have named its party headquarters as 'Sardar Bhawan'. It wouldn't have given a dynastic name of 'Indira Bhawan',” Kesavan said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He further described the Congress’s claim of following Sardar Patel’s ideals as a “blatant oxymoron,” accusing the party of using Patel’s name selectively for political mileage while ignoring his legacy for decades.
