Delhi: BJP leader Arvinder Singh Lovely voiced strong condemnation of the recent attack on a Hindu temple in Canada, calling it a “shameful and sad incident.” Lovely emphasized that such actions violate the foundational teachings of Sikhism, particularly those of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who preached respect and harmony among all religions. His remarks came in response to increasing concerns over the safety of Hindu institutions abroad, especially in regions where political tensions appear to be influencing social dynamics.
Expressing his disappointment, Lovely accused the Canadian government of engaging in “dirty politics” that panders to certain voting blocs, suggesting that the lack of decisive action in cases like this is indicative of a larger political agenda. “The Canadian government is doing dirty politics for votes and this is an example of that,” he stated, implying that political motives are overshadowing the need for social unity and respect among diverse communities.
Lovely warned that attempts to create discord among Indians living abroad would not succeed. Highlighting the deeply rooted sense of community among the Indian diaspora, he said, “They will not be successful in creating a divide among Indians.” His words reflect a widespread sentiment among Indian leaders who worry that divisive actions abroad could potentially fuel tensions within Indian communities.
Calling for accountability, Lovely urged the Canadian government to take stringent action against those responsible for the attack. He insisted that the perpetrators be brought to justice, stressing that such incidents undermine the values of inclusivity and respect that both Canada and India espouse.
