Kolkata, West Bengal – BJP leader and MLA Agnimitra Paul launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following her recent remark expressing readiness for elections. Paul accused Banerjee of attempting to divert attention and evade accountability, asserting that the people of Bengal will decisively reject her in the upcoming state assembly elections.
“She is trying to run away, but we will not allow that to happen,” Paul said in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), adding, “Mamata Banerjee will be thrown out by the people of Bengal in the assembly elections.”

The BJP leader further accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief of presiding over what she described as an era of misrule, claiming that her governance had pushed Bengal back by 200 years. These remarks reflect the BJP’s intensifying campaign to position itself as the alternative to Banerjee’s decade-plus-long leadership in the state.
While responding to Banerjee’s recent political and cultural references—including her comment on “sindoor” (vermilion), a traditional Hindu symbol—Paul criticized the Chief Minister for allegedly resorting to personal attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “She talks about 'sindoor', but she stoops to personal attacks on the Prime Minister. She has stooped to a new low,” Paul added.
