Khammam, Telangana – Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao on Monday strongly criticized the state government over its handling of the OBC reservation policy, alleging that the ruling administration has diluted the intent of the quota by allocating a portion to religious-based reservations.

Speaking at a public event in Khammam, Rao said, “The Telangana government has come up with 42% reservation for OBCs in the state. The BJP totally supported it. Now, when the time for its implementation came, the Telangana government gave 10% of that 42% to Muslim reservations.”

He emphasized that while the BJP supports affirmative action for backward classes, it opposes any form of religious-based reservation under the OBC category. “The BJP opposes any religious-based reservation for anyone in the party's percentage of OBC because this will affect the OBC directly,” Rao stated.

He accused the state government of lacking both clarity and commitment on the matter, suggesting that the move was politically motivated rather than based on social justice. “This government has no clarity and commitment towards OBCs. They just want to do politics out of it,” he said.
