New Delhi: BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla took aim at the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh over reports of the Himachal Pradesh High Court ordering the attachment of Himachal Bhawan in Delhi. The attachment comes as a move to recover dues owed to power companies, sparking sharp criticism of the state’s financial management.
Poonawalla called it another example of Congress's alleged misgovernance, referring to it as part of their “khata-khat” model. "Wherever Congress comes to power, they bring 'loot' and 'barbaadi' along with them," he remarked during a press briefing.
Highlighting the state’s financial struggles, Poonawalla alleged that the government is unable to meet basic obligations. "In Himachal Pradesh, the government cannot even pay salaries to its employees. They have imposed a toilet tax, and now the situation has deteriorated to such an extent that the Himachal Bhawan is on the verge of being sold to clear power company dues," he said.
He further ridiculed the Congress administration, accusing them of misplaced priorities. "They are busy investigating samosas while the state's finances crumble," Poonawalla quipped, referencing recent controversies over minor administrative matters.
The attachment of Himachal Bhawan marks a significant blow to the Congress-led state government, raising questions about its fiscal policies and governance. Meanwhile, BJP leaders continue to use this issue to criticize Congress's handling of state affairs, calling for accountability and better management practices.
