Hyderabad, Telangana: BJP leader N Ramchander Rao has raised concerns over the Telangana government's Musi River cleaning project, particularly the planned displacement of people living in the river’s buffer zone and on its banks. While the BJP supports the initiative to clean the Musi River, they strongly oppose any displacement of local residents as part of the project.

"In principle, we have no objection to cleaning the Musi River. However, we strongly object to the displacement of the people living in the buffer zone and on the riverbank. They should not be displaced," said Rao. He condemned what he called an "anti-people" approach by the government, emphasizing that the well-being of the residents must be taken into account.

The BJP has pledged to support the affected communities, with Rao announcing that the party will visit the Musi colonies and spend time with the residents to understand their concerns. "Today, the BJP has decided to go to these Musi colonies, wherever people are living, talk to them and stay with them the whole night," he added, highlighting the party's commitment to standing by the people during this critical time.

The controversy has brought attention to the government’s handling of the urban development project and its impact on local communities. The BJP’s opposition reflects growing tensions between the party and the state government over issues of displacement and urbanization in Telangana.
