Alipurduar, West Bengal — During a rally in Alipurduar, BJP MP Raju Bista voiced strong criticism of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) party, highlighting the disconnect he feels exists between the party’s actions and the needs of the people in North Bengal. Addressing the audience, Bista pointed out that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's choice to bring in former cricketer and TMC MP Yusuf Pathan for the campaign disregards the unique issues faced by residents of North Bengal.

"The people of North Bengal don't know who Yusuf Pathan is," Bista remarked, suggesting that the choice of campaign figure fails to resonate with the local electorate. He expressed frustration that North Bengal has become “the most backward region of the state” due to inadequate government focus on the area’s specific concerns.

Bista also outlined the importance of national border security in the region, stating it should be “the priority of every political party in India.” He commended Prime Minister Modi’s focus on strengthening border security as a strategic measure for the country's safety and well-being.

Additionally, Bista reiterated his party’s stance on handling the issue of illegal immigration, an ongoing concern in border regions like North Bengal. He pledged that if BJP secures a victory in the 2026 West Bengal elections, they would work toward addressing the issue of Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators, ensuring they are returned to their respective countries.

This call for enhanced security and governance is part of the BJP's broader promise to address the concerns of North Bengal, positioning the region’s development and safety as central points of their platform. The BJP has been vocal about its intention to bridge the gap between North Bengal and other areas of West Bengal, promising focused policies to uplift the region.
