BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader, Arvind Kejriwal, over their decade-long governance in Delhi. Speaking on the backdrop of AAP’s recent focus on law and order, Khandelwal accused the party of failing to deliver on its promises of development and infrastructure improvement.
“I want to ask a question. Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party have been ruling in Delhi for the past ten years. In these ten years, what developmental work have they done?” asked Khandelwal. He challenged AAP to present evidence of any new road construction or address the persistent issue of potholes in the city.
Khandelwal also criticized the state of infrastructure in Delhi’s markets, stating, “There has been no infrastructure development in the markets of Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal had made big promises.”
The BJP MP accused the ruling party of deflecting from its governance failures by raising concerns over law and order, a subject he dismissed as a "false narrative" orchestrated to shift attention. He attributed this strategy to the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, suggesting that AAP leaders are struggling to provide a credible report card to voters.
“Now, because the Delhi Assembly elections are approaching and Kejriwal ji or his party members have nothing to tell the people of Delhi, they are trying to create false narratives. But the people of Delhi are smart; they understand,” Khandelwal added.
The remarks come amidst an escalating war of words between AAP and BJP over governance and crime in Delhi. While AAP has highlighted the need for better law enforcement under the BJP-led central government, BJP continues to question AAP’s developmental track record, setting the stage for a charged electoral contest.
