BJP Member of Parliament Naveen Jindal has voiced strong disappointment over Turkey’s position during the recent India-Pakistan conflict, stating that Ankara’s open support for Pakistan has hurt sentiments in India and may impact the traditionally cordial ties between the two nations.
“Earlier, we had a great relationship with Turkey, and people in India were really interested in going there,” Jindal said while speaking to the media. “However, Turkey openly supported Pakistan in this conflict, which has disappointed the Indians.”
India and Turkey have historically shared civilizational and economic ties, with increasing tourism and business exchanges in recent years. However, Turkey’s vocal backing of Pakistan—particularly in matters concerning Kashmir—has been a recurring source of diplomatic friction. Jindal’s remarks reflect growing public and political sentiment in India, where such support is viewed as antagonistic to India’s sovereignty and internal security.
“Hopefully, Turkey will understand it and correct its mistake,” he added, suggesting that the relationship still holds potential for recovery, provided Ankara re-evaluates its foreign policy approach in South Asia.
