Delhi: BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat has strongly criticized the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Bibhav Kumar, an aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is accused of assaulting AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. Sehrawat expressed her dismay at the incident, which allegedly took place at the residence of the Chief Minister and in the presence of his wife.
Sehrawat remarked, "At the residence of the CM, in front of his wife, a senior member of his party and a well-established leader and a Rajya Sabha MP was assaulted by the Chief Minister's PA. Arvind Kejriwal put in all efforts and raised an entire army of lawyers to protect his PA."
She echoed the sentiments of Swati Maliwal, pointing out that despite the extensive legal efforts made by Kejriwal and his party, Kumar was only granted bail and not acquitted of the charges. "I agree with Swati Maliwal that in spite of all efforts put in by the CM and his party to save the accused, he has just been granted bail and not given a clean chit," Sehrawat added.
The incident has sparked a political controversy, with opposition leaders questioning the actions of the Delhi Chief Minister and the handling of the case within the AAP. The case remains a focal point of debate, highlighting the tensions between political accountability and legal processes.
