New Delhi, June 17 — BJP Member of Parliament Jagdambika Pal on Monday welcomed the central government’s decision to conduct a nationwide caste census, calling it a “transparent and structured initiative” aimed at gathering crucial socio-economic data.

Speaking to reporters in the capital, Pal said, “The Union Home Minister not only announced the caste census but also laid out the full schedule for how the process will be carried out. It is a welcome move. The data will be collected from every household by March 2027.”

According to Pal, around 34 lakh government officers and employees across the country will be involved in executing the massive census exercise, which has officially begun. He described the effort as one of the most comprehensive data collection drives in India's administrative history.

Responding to criticism from the Opposition, particularly the Congress and Samajwadi Party, Pal dismissed allegations of policy inconsistency. “The Congress is now claiming we’ve taken a U-turn. In reality, they have no issue left to raise. Leaders like Jairam Ramesh and Akhilesh Yadav are simply trying to mislead the backward classes of this country,” he remarked.
