Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh: BJP MLAs staged a walkout from the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on the second day of the winter session, citing the state government’s failure to respond to their questions regarding excise tenders and tourism matters. The move came after the Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur, expressed dissatisfaction with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s refusal to address their concerns.
“The CM is not replying to our questions regarding excise tenders,” Thakur said, adding that BJP MLA Randhir Sharma was not allowed to raise counterpoints during the proceedings. “When our MLA Randhir Sharma wanted to raise some questions to counter him, then they didn’t allow him to speak, so we decided to walk out,” he explained.
The BJP has been pushing for answers on various issues, including the excise policy and the state’s approach to tourism development. “We have raised the issue of tourism in the Assembly, but we have got no reply from the government,” Thakur added.
The walkout by BJP members has intensified the political standoff in the Assembly, highlighting the growing discontent between the opposition and the ruling party over key issues. With no immediate resolution in sight, the winter session is expected to continue with heated debates and further political drama.
