New Delhi | BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Tuesday reiterated his support for the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal, emphasizing its significance in economic and social terms. He hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, stating that extensive public consultation had already taken place and that the country must move in this direction for streamlined governance.

"‘One Nation, One Election’ is the need of the country, be it economic aspect, social aspect, or the vision of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.' This initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is commendable. Suggestions have been taken from thousands of people, and certainly, the country will move forward in this direction. If the country has to progress, we must embrace ‘One Nation, One Election,’" Chugh remarked.

In a sharp attack on the Congress, Chugh also addressed the conviction of former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots murder case. He called the verdict a long-awaited victory for justice and accused Congress of protecting Kumar for decades.

"It is a big day for the people of Punjab. It took 40 years for justice, and Congress spent 30 years trying to save him. I want to ask Rahul Gandhi why Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler, and Kamal Nath are still leaders in the Congress Party despite being accused of crimes? I appreciate PM Narendra Modi, who reopened files closed for 30 years, formed a commission, and served justice and relief to the families of the victims," Chugh stated.
