Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh: BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao has lauded the central government's decision to approve a Rs 11,400 crore revival package for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, a move he says will boost local employment and production capacity.
Speaking on the announcement, Rao thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for their efforts in ensuring the plant's revival. "The people of Andhra Pradesh, especially Visakhapatnam, are looking at this decision with immense pride. With this package, the plant will be able to operate at 100% capacity," he said.
The revival package is expected to directly benefit approximately 30,000 employees currently working at the plant and indirectly support over 1 lakh families connected to it through associated industries and services.
"This decision is a lifeline for the people of Visakhapatnam. The plant plays a crucial role in the local economy, and this support from the government is a testament to its commitment to the region," Rao added.
