In a recent statement in Nagrota, Jammu, BJP leader Devender Singh Rana addressed concerns regarding reservations for Scheduled Castes, Gujjars, Bakarwals, and Paharis. Rana criticized the Congress-National Conference coalition for suggesting in their manifesto that these reservations might be reviewed and potentially reduced.
“Congress-National Conference has said in its manifesto that reservation for Scheduled Castes, Gujjars, Bakarwals, Paharis will be reviewed and reduced,” Rana stated. He firmly countered these claims, emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to protecting these reservations.
“We want to say that as long as BJP is there, no one can touch your reservation,” Rana assured. He highlighted that the reservation system is enshrined in the Constitution established by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and reiterated the BJP's stance on maintaining these provisions. “This reservation has been given according to the Constitution given by Dr BR Ambedkar. We will not let anyone touch it,” he added.
Rana's comments reflect the BJP’s strategy to reinforce its support base by defending constitutional guarantees and addressing concerns about potential changes in reservation policies. The assurance aims to reassure communities that benefit from these provisions and to differentiate the BJP’s position from that of its political opponents.
