New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has described the ongoing reforms in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework as a transformative step in India’s economic journey. Party spokesperson CR Kesavan on Friday said that the reforms reflect Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a strong foundation for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi's revolutionary reforms will categorically ensure an exceptional edifice of economic empowerment for a ‘Viksit Bharat’,” Kesavan stated in a social media post. He added that the measures place people’s welfare at the forefront, with the aim of strengthening India’s economic momentum.
According to Kesavan, the reforms will further bolster the country’s buoyant growth rate, which he said has already transformed India into the fastest-growing economy in the world. He credited the leadership of PM Modi for driving this transformation and positioning India as a key player in the global economic landscape.
The remarks come amid ongoing discussions around simplifying the GST regime, expanding its base, and making compliance easier for businesses. Analysts suggest that reforms in GST are expected to enhance revenue efficiency while easing the tax burden on small and medium enterprises.
