In a recent statement, BJP leader V Muraleedharan criticized the Kerala Assembly for its unanimous resolution opposing the 'One Nation, One Poll' initiative. He expressed concern over the Assembly's focus on what he termed "futile matters," suggesting that time and resources were being wasted on resolutions that do not serve the public's interests. "The Kerala Assembly and its members are known for engaging in such activities, taking time out and spending taxpayers' money on issues that do not matter," Muraleedharan remarked.
He further pointed to the Assembly's previous resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), indicating that both the state government and the opposition may be attempting to mislead the public through such resolutions. "They feel that by passing these resolutions, they can sway the people's opinion. I would advise them to focus on their duties and responsibilities instead of getting involved in political theatrics," he added.
Muraleedharan's comments highlight the ongoing political tensions in Kerala, as the BJP seeks to counter the narrative presented by the ruling party and opposition. The 'One Nation, One Poll' initiative, aimed at synchronizing elections across the country, has sparked debates on its feasibility and implications for Indian democracy, with various state assemblies voicing their opinions on the matter.
