Delhi | A delegation from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), led by senior leader Dr. Amar Patnaik, met officials of the Election Commission of India (ECI) today to submit a letter petition seeking clarity and transparency in the election process.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Dr. Patnaik highlighted certain "unexplainable and unusual variances" observed between votes polled and votes cast during the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. He stated that the petition aims to enhance the transparency and credibility of the election process in the country.

Dr. Patnaik stressed, "Naveen Patnaik is not casting any aspersion on the Election Commission. However, there is a pressing need to give more assurance to the people of Odisha and the nation at large about the robustness of the election process."

The petition also seeks improvements to further bolster public trust in India's democratic systems. The BJD leader underscored the importance of such steps in strengthening the electoral process and its perceived fairness.

The meeting between the BJD delegation and the ECI reflects the party’s commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency in elections, while fostering greater confidence among the electorate. The ECI has yet to issue an official response regarding the concerns raised by the BJD.
