Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik today expressed deep dissatisfaction with the Union Budget 2025, calling it a missed opportunity to address two of the country’s most pressing issues: unemployment and rising prices of essential commodities. Patnaik criticized the government for failing to tackle the persistent job crisis that has left the youth in the country desperate for opportunities. He highlighted the growing frustration among citizens who are bearing the brunt of the unchecked price rise that continues to affect their daily lives.

In his post on social media, Patnaik emphasized that despite these serious concerns, the budget failed to offer concrete solutions. He also pointed out the longstanding demand of the state of Odisha for Special Category Status, which has been repeatedly ignored by the Central Government. Odisha, he argued, faces numerous natural calamities every year, which places an immense burden on the state's resources. Given these challenges, Patnaik has long advocated for the inclusion of Odisha in the list of states that receive special provisions under the financial assistance program.
