The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that the BIMSTEC Young Leaders’ Summit was inaugurated in Guwahati, Assam, with a focus on empowering youth to play a central role in the region’s holistic development. The three-day event is aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and preparing the next generation of policymakers and innovators from member countries.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, in a post on social media, said the initiative is another step towards fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to reinforce the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). He highlighted the significance of North East India as a vital “land bridge” connecting the socio-economic development corridor of the Bay of Bengal region.

The summit will provide a platform for young leaders to exchange ideas, collaborate on regional challenges, and work towards shared prosperity. Discussions are expected to revolve around issues such as sustainable growth, innovation, cross-border connectivity, and addressing common social and economic challenges.
