New Delhi: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday lauded Bihar’s growing contribution to global trade, noting that makhana from the state has found new export markets in the United States, Canada, and New Zealand.

Addressing an event, Goyal expressed pride in Bihar’s progress, crediting the combined efforts of the central and state governments for driving growth across sectors. He said the exports symbolise not only the state’s economic potential but also the skill and enterprise of its youth.

“It is a matter of pride that makhana from Bihar, prepared by the daughters of the state, is now reaching international markets,” Goyal said, adding that the initiative reflects India’s focus on empowering rural communities and women-led enterprises.

The minister also underlined that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership at the Centre and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s governance in the state, the “double-engine government” is working with determination to ensure development in infrastructure, industry, and agriculture.
