Patna: With early trends signalling a strong mandate for the National Democratic Alliance in the Bihar Assembly Elections, posters proclaiming “Bihar Ka Matlab Nitish Kumar” surfaced across Patna on Friday, capturing the rising confidence within NDA circles. The slogan, widely used during campaigning, has reappeared prominently as the alliance moves toward what appears to be a comfortable victory.
According to the Election Commission’s morning trends, the NDA was leading in 166 constituencies—well above the required majority mark of 122 in the 243-member assembly. The early momentum has energised party workers, who have begun celebrating in anticipation of a decisive outcome. Supporters of the Janata Dal (United) and the Bharatiya Janata Party were seen gathering outside party offices, raising slogans and distributing sweets.
In sharp contrast, the opposition INDIA bloc lagged significantly behind, leading in just 59 seats. Leaders from the alliance said they were awaiting later rounds of counting, noting that the numbers could still shift with several rounds yet to be completed. However, the early gap has set the tone for what many observers expect to be a commanding performance by the NDA.
