Patna: The Election Commission on Monday announced that the Bihar Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases, on November 6 and November 11. The announcement officially set the stage for a high-stakes contest in the state.
Reacting to the development, Janata Dal (United) spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad said his party welcomed the decision and was prepared to face the electorate. “The EC has taken the decision to hold elections in two phases, there has been no doubts whatsoever. We have worked under the leadership of Nitish Kumar for the last 20 years. We have been connected with the people, and there are numerous achievements,” Prasad said.
He highlighted a range of development and welfare initiatives implemented by the Nitish Kumar-led government, including the construction of expressways and highways worth about ₹1.85 lakh crore, and the government’s decision to create one crore employment opportunities, with 50 lakh already delivered.
Prasad also cited financial assistance schemes for women, claiming that more than two crore women had received ₹10,000 each. “It will continue. The work that we did, we are hopeful that people will bless Nitish Kumar, they will give an opportunity to serve again,” he added.
