Patna: In a major policy push aimed at youth empowerment and gender inclusion, the Bihar Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Secretary S Siddharth, approved 43 key agendas on Monday, including the establishment of a dedicated Youth Commission and a landmark reservation reform for women in government services.
Addressing the media, Chief Secretary S Siddharth stated, “Today 43 agendas have been stamped in the Council of Ministers, in which the most important agenda is the formation of the Youth Commission. This commission is related to the youth of 18–45 years, which will have one chairman, two vice-chairmen and seven members.”
The commission’s scope will be broad, encompassing students in higher secondary and degree programs, unemployed youth, economically disadvantaged meritorious students, and migrant youth working or studying outside the state. It is designed to identify challenges and recommend targeted interventions across educational, employment, and social domains.
In another significant move, the Cabinet approved 35% horizontal reservation for women who are natives of Bihar in all direct recruitment posts across all government cadres and star categories. “Only women native to the state will be allowed 35% horizontal reservation,” Siddharth clarified.
