In the lead-up to the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir elections, Congress leader Bharat Singh Solanki, the party’s candidate from Ramgarh constituency, highlighted the critical importance of these elections for the region. Speaking in a recent address, Solanki noted that this is the first major election in the region in a decade, marking a significant opportunity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"After 10 years, these elections are being held as an opportunity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Democracy, normalcy, and statehood will be restored," Solanki said, emphasizing that these elections are a step towards bringing stability and prosperity to the region.
He pointed to several pressing issues that need urgent attention, including rising inflation, unemployment among the youth, and the need for better health and education services. According to Solanki, addressing these concerns will be vital for the well-being and future of the region's population.
However, Solanki also criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating that the party has already weakened the future government by giving excessive power to the Lieutenant Governor. "Although the BJP has already weakened the upcoming government by giving more power to L-G," he remarked, voicing concerns about the central government’s role in undermining the democratic process.
