Sukma, Chhattisgarh: In a major operation, security forces in Sukma district neutralized 10 uniformed Maoists, including three women, in an encounter near Bhandarpadar on November 20. The operation involved the Sukma District Reserve Guard (DRG) and CRPF teams from Elarmadagu, Palodi, and Potkapalli police station areas.
The action followed credible intelligence inputs about Maoist presence in the region. While patrolling, the DRG and CRPF teams encountered the insurgents, leading to a gunfight.
During the subsequent search operation, the security forces recovered the bodies of 10 Maoists and a cache of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, INSAS rifle, and self-loading rifles (SLRs).
Officials confirmed that the operation is ongoing, with further searches being conducted to ensure complete area sanitization. The recovery of such a significant number of weapons and neutralization of uniformed Naxalites is being seen as a major success in the ongoing anti-insurgency efforts in Chhattisgarh.
This encounter underscores the continued efforts of security forces to counter Maoist activities in Sukma, one of the hotbeds of insurgency in the region. Further updates are awaited as search operations progress.
