Bengaluru, Karnataka, June 4, 2025 — In the wake of the tragic stampede incident in Bengaluru that led to multiple casualties, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday assured that the government is committed to delivering justice and preventing such tragedies in the future. He confirmed that a judicial inquiry had been ordered and investigations are ongoing.
"My Chief Minister was kind enough to announce a judicial inquiry... Action has been taken on some of them. Investigation is underway," Shivakumar said while addressing the media. "The government has done its best to give justice, and we will come up with a plan of action to ensure that such events don't happen in future."
The Deputy CM also addressed the political storm surrounding the incident, particularly the BJP’s demand for his resignation. Hitting back, he remarked, "Let them (BJP) demand (my resignation). They are trying to do politics on the dead bodies. We don't want to do politics."
