New Delhi: In the wake of the tragic stampede at the Maha Kumbh, yoga guru Baba Ramdev has called for patience and self-discipline among devotees, stressing the importance of maintaining order at the religious gathering. While acknowledging the efforts of the government and administration, he urged pilgrims to cooperate and avoid overcrowding at the sacred Sangam.
"I appeal to anyone visiting Maha Kumbh that the government and the administration are fulfilling their duties, but we should follow self-discipline as well," Ramdev said. "The first characteristic of Dharma is patience. If you don’t get a chance to go to the Sangam, take a dip wherever you find a place."
Expressing condolences for the victims, he added, "I pray for the salvation of those who have passed away."
The stampede, which occurred due to overcrowding at one of the main bathing ghats, has raised concerns over crowd management at the ongoing Maha Kumbh, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. Despite extensive security and logistical arrangements, the sheer number of devotees poses challenges for authorities.
Eyewitnesses reported moments of panic as thousands surged towards the riverbanks, leading to the tragic loss of lives. Officials have assured a thorough review of safety protocols to prevent further incidents.
With millions expected to visit the Kumbh in the coming weeks, religious leaders and officials continue to urge devotees to remain calm, follow designated paths, and prioritize safety while participating in the holy event.
