By A Staff Reporter, Shillong: Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh Minister of Health & Family Welfare visited on the 11th of September 2023 the under construction 50 bedded AYUSH hospital at Sohra. The project is funded under the National AYUSH Mission by the Ministry of AYUSH at the cost of Rs. 10.55 Cr. The project was initiated in the year 2016-17 and now 90% of work is in progress after monsoon Civil works will be completed. Well within the stipulated project duration since 2019, despite delays due to COVID-19. The 50 bedded hospital is likely to be completed by the end of October 2023. The hospital will be a big boost to Health sector in the state and will be a great boon for Sohra region. Once operationalised the hospital will provide OPD, IPD, Antenatal care, etc. The hospital has space for starting Operation theatre, Optometry, Labour room, Panchakarma, etc. Besides, the centre also has spacious accommodations for AYUSH physicians and class IV employees. Minister reviewed the operationalisation timeline for the centre with Health and Family Welfare department officers. Recruitment for AYUSH Physicians will be taken up by the District AYUSH Society by the end of this month. The process for procurement of equipment is also in the offing. Minister was optimistic to start health care services in the centre at the earliest. The Health Minister will be shortly having a meeting with Dy CM Prestone Tyngsong for the re-development and construction of approximately 2 Km of roads leading to this facility.
