New Delhi: Australian High Commissioner to India Philip Green on Friday highlighted the deepening energy cooperation between India and Australia, noting that India has been a consistent supplier of petroleum products to the Australian market. Speaking to reporters in the capital, he said the issue of Russian-origin oil has become increasingly significant in global energy discussions.
“India has been a supplier of petroleum products to Australia for quite some time. The issue of Russian oil has become an important one,” Green said, referring to ongoing global scrutiny following geopolitical tensions and sanctions linked to Russia’s energy exports.
Green welcomed the recent decision by Reliance Industries, one of India’s largest refiners, to adjust its export policy for Australia. “We were very pleased when Reliance had made clear earlier this week that it is making an arrangement from next month, whereby from its SEZ refinery, it will only be supplying oil free of Russian content for Australia,” he said.
