New Delhi | Australia has joined India, Japan, and the United States for Exercise Malabar, a high-profile maritime drill aimed at strengthening interoperability and security cooperation among key Indo-Pacific partners.

The Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) Anzac-class frigate HMAS Ballarat is participating in the exercise, which is being conducted in the West Pacific training area from November 10 to 18. The exercise serves as a major platform for the Quad nations to enhance joint operational readiness and coordination in complex maritime environments.

Alongside the naval participation, a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft will also take part in the exercise, conducting surveillance and reconnaissance missions from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam.
