New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister and senior AAP leader Atishi launched a scathing attack on current Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, alleging that her public assurance regarding slum protection was a blatant lie. The comments came following a demolition drive initiated at Kalkaji’s Bhoomihin Camp by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Delhi Police.
“Two days ago, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said that no slums are being demolished and will not be demolished in Delhi. Her lies were exposed in around 48 hours,” Atishi said during a press interaction. She condemned the forced evictions, stating that security forces removed families from their homes without providing proper rehabilitation.

According to Atishi, a total of 3,024 flats were constructed by the DDA as part of a rehabilitation scheme, but only 1,862 were allotted to the residents of Bhoomihin Camp. “More than half of the people residing in Bhoomihin Camps did not get a house. Now their houses are being demolished without allotting any house to them,” she alleged.
Atishi demanded that the government halt the demolition immediately and ensure that all eligible residents are properly rehabilitated before any further action is taken. The incident has triggered political outrage, with opposition parties accusing the Delhi government of neglecting the urban poor.
