New Delhi – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi, on Wednesday strongly criticized the School Education Fee Regulation Bill 2025, calling it a pro-private school legislation that sidelines the interests of parents and promotes unchecked fee hikes.

“The BJP's intention came to light today through the statement of their MLA Raj Kumar Bhatia. He clearly stated that this bill is being brought so that schools can increase their fees,” Atishi said, addressing the Assembly after the bill was introduced.

She pointed out several concerns with the bill's structure, highlighting that it contains no mention of mandatory audits for school accounts. “The provisions of the bill are such that the word 'audit' is not even mentioned in the entire bill,” she added.

Atishi further criticized the composition of the proposed fee regulation committee. “Only five parents have been included, and the committee will be chaired by a representative of the management. Parents will not even be able to challenge the committee’s decisions in court,” she said.

Calling the bill "one-sided," Atishi alleged that it is designed to serve the interests of private school owners rather than ensuring fee transparency or accountability.

She also noted that the AAP had sought inputs from parents and proposed a set of amendments based on the suggestions received. “The BJP will have to vote on these amendments, and then it will become clear whether the BJP stands with the owners of private schools or with the parents,” she concluded.
