Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, addressing the Future Frontiers Conclave in Delhi, reflected on his space journey and the lessons it taught him, calling the International Space Station (ISS) a symbol of human resilience and collaboration.
Shukla pointed out that the ISS orbits just 400 kilometers above Earth, a relatively short distance in space terms. “It is not too far. But my journey was not just about navigating these 400 kilometers. It has been much longer than that,” he said, noting that the road to becoming an astronaut involved years of dedication, discipline, and perseverance.
He described the ISS as one of humanity’s greatest accomplishments. “We built a home where nature refuses to let us live. No air, no water, no protection, yet it has been thriving for the past 25 years,” Shukla remarked. His words emphasized both the scientific achievement and the spirit of international cooperation that sustains the space station.
