GUWAHATI: In a provocative political statement, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday levelled serious allegations against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, claiming that his son and daughter are not Indian citizens. The remarks, made during a media interaction, are likely to escalate tensions between the BJP and the Congress ahead of key political developments.
“I have evidence that Gaurav Gogoi’s son and daughter are not Indian citizens,” Sarma asserted, without presenting any supporting documentation in public. He further alleged that Gogoi had spent 15 days in Pakistan, raising suspicions about the purpose of the visit.
“There is no tourism place in Pakistan; it is only a terrorist adda,” Sarma said. “It is 100 per cent confirmed that he went there, but what did he do there in 15 days?”
Adding to the political firestorm, the Chief Minister also brought in Robert Vadra, accusing both Vadra and Gogoi of showing more concern for Pakistan than India.
