Guwahati, March 4: The Assam government has approved two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for the establishment of new universities in the state, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced during a press conference following a Cabinet meeting.
"Today, we approved two MoUs which were signed in Advantage Assam 2.0 for setting up two universities in Assam—one in Sipajhar and another in Tinsukia. The bills will be tabled in the Assembly," Sarma stated.
The MoUs were part of the recently concluded Advantage Assam 2.0, a major investment summit aimed at attracting business and educational investments in the state. The two universities are expected to boost higher education infrastructure, provide new academic opportunities, and contribute to the region's overall development.
