Jaipur, Rajasthan: Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday accused the Election Commission of bias and alleged large-scale irregularities in the voter lists, echoing Rahul Gandhi’s call under the ongoing ‘Vote Chor–Gaddi Chhod’ campaign.
Speaking to reporters in Jaipur, Gehlot said, “Voter list tampering is also a form of theft. The one-sided support that they receive during any process is also a kind of vote theft. All Rahul Gandhi wants to say is that there is something suspicious which needs to be addressed immediately.”
He demanded that the Election Commission share the voter lists with political parties to allow independent verification of discrepancies. “We also demand that the Election Commission provide us with the list of voters so that we can enquire at our level about any discrepancies,” Gehlot stated.
Criticizing the Commission for inaction, Gehlot added, “The Election Commission is leaving our plea unheard and is acting in a biased manner.”
